These days, every house is having Electronic Items like Television, music system, mobile phones, computers, and many more. These can be good and useful for the adults but can prove to be very harmful to the small children. As it is, these have attractions of their own and draw the eyeballs of everyone. The children get attracted to them very fast. However, these cause immense harm to their raw minds. They may get eyes and ears’ problems besides mental agony watching these. The gadgets are habit-forming and may, eventually, affect their studies in the long run.
Social interactions
Man cannot live without social interaction. Teaching
children to help; cooperate with and be good to others brings out good moral
behavior in them. It makes them learn socialization as well.
Money and financial dealings
They must be taught
money dealings by making them purchase small items; purchase bus or local train
or metro train tickets by themselves. They should also be taught to have
financial training by learning to manage in their pocket money.
Independent thinking
They must be encouraged to have their own free and
logical opinion about various issues. However, this does not mean them to be
brash in expressing their opinion to others.
Positivity
Developing positivity and possibility-thinking are
great virtues. The children should be taught to develop these. If they have
these virtues, it will be easy for them to come out of any difficult situation
in life.
They must learn to appreciate others. It is the easiest
to ridicule anything or anybody but appreciation requires one to have keen
knowledge about the subject or the person for whom he is expressing his
opinion.
Having a world view
It is
responsibility of the parents to take their children around to let them know
the places around.
Important
Tips for the Parents
Encourage
them to be inquisitive
It is their growing age and their agile minds do not know the word ‘rest’.
Therefore, they are bound to come up with questions. These should be answered
in such a way that their curiosity is satiated. They should be able to
understand it fully well.
Appreciation
Don’t be the miser in the words of appreciation if they do something good but don’t go
overboard also because they should always feel that the room for improvement is
still there.
Fix
responsibility
Give them responsibility and keep increasing it well within their capacity as
they grow. Praise them when they fulfill it nicely.
Don’t
shout at them
You may have problems but that
does not give you cause to misbehave with your children. Even if they are wrong to have the patience to bear it. It will teach them this quality too.
Control
their misbehavior
They must
not be allowed to misbehave. It can be done by calmly telling them about it.
They should be taught to behave properly. Sometimes children do it just to
catch the eyeballs but such attention-seeking habits of the children should not
be encouraged.
If the
child can follow rules at school he can do so at home as well. Parents will do
well to make rules and make the children follow them too. For example, a simple
rule like “No Television watching at the time of meals” or “Usage of the golden
words” can be implemented. These rules are good anywhere.
Conclusion
Primary education gives foundation to the children for their future
studies. Parenting plays a very important role in the support of these children in
life. Both Rajkishore and Bhoomika could understand the entire gamut of Roles
and Responsibilities as parents of a Primary School Student. They felt better
equipped to guide Anjali in her life by following the simple principles of
parenting. The guiding philosophy is to love, care, and live for your child. This
will inculcate not only good feelings in the child but also make him stand on a
solid footing in life. It is the best way to ensure a safe, secure, and healthy
childhood that one remembers with a smile all through his life. It is a kind of
chain reaction a happy child will eventually become a healthy parent too in the
latter days of his life.
